Every once in a while I have these profound conversations with my dad. Recently, he thanked me for always being respectful to him. That’s not the part that got me. He has said that before. Then he went on to thank me for my words of encouragement to him down through the years. Again I thought well that’s nice of him to say. Then he said, I want you to know your words of encouragement are being recorded, and you will hear them again someday in heaven. Wowza, that’s the part that hit me straight between the eyes. I hadn’t thought about that before. I can’t stop thinking about that now. In that one sentence my dad said a lot. I will never forget this particular conversation with my dad. When my dad is gone, he will have left me with some powerful words and wisdom. I am grateful for a dad like this.
What you do today will affect how you live in eternity. I am driven by eternity. What if you were forced to stand there and hear your own words on a recording. Are your words encouraging, negative, demeaning, positive? Do your words build people up or tear them down? There is power behind your words. I once heard it said that we need to get saved twice in our lifetime. Once for our heart and once for our words. Let the power of God transform your words. Let God be the God of your heart and your spoken words. Use your words to encourage, build up, help, edify, motivate, and inspire people. Live an inspirational life that blesses those around you. People are repelled by negative words, but they are also drawn to encouraging words.
Does your mouth need to get saved today? God has the power to transform your tongue. Through the power of Christ you can go from bitter to sweet.
