Do you struggle with low self worth?
We use measurements to evaluate many things. It is possible to use the wrong tool to measure something. You don’t usually use a tape measure to cook. You wouldn’t use a cup, pint, or gallon to measure the distance on a wall. You don’t use a ruler to balance your bank account.
Some think the number on the scale determines their worth. Many women think their dress size determines their worth. Others believe their bank account determines their worth. Parents often feel the success of their children determines their worth. People feel the size of their house determines their worth. Mothers sometimes feel the cleanliness of their home determines their worth. For some, the number of friends on their social media account determines their worth. People often fall into the media trap. They believe the number of likes attached to their words on social media determines their worth and importance.
All of these measurements go up and down and change on a daily basis. Those numbers are not attached to our worth, value, or importance. None of that actually influences our worth positively or negatively. Your worth does not change at all based on these things.
We can determine our worth from the right source.
When you get a hold of the truth it changes how you live your life. You will live and act differently when you grasp this profound truth. You see your worth was decided at the cross. It was put in place. It was determined. It was paid for with the price of blood. The moment Jesus died and bled for you your worth was determined. His death and resurrection symbolizes the price of your worth. You were worth dying for!!!!
Jesus took our sins, our brokenness, our self-esteem, our failures, and put it upon himself. An accurate view of yourself comes from an understanding of God’s view of who you are. Knowing the truth of who you are sets you free. God accepts you, so accept yourself. God forgives you, so forgive yourself. Since you are important to God, you’re worth something and your self-worth is secure. It doesn’t go up or down. It can’t be shaken, changed, or moved.
That number on the scale doesn’t make you more beautiful or less beautiful.
The number in your bank account doesn’t make you more or less important. The number of likes on social media isn’t a true gauge of your value. When you realize this you stop using the wrong tools to evaluate your worth. You stand securely on your own two feet with your head held up high. The cross determined your worth. You were worth dying for!! Let that sink way deep into your soul today. You were worth dying for!!
Guess what? Seriously somewhat embarrassing to admit but I do find my self allowing my emotions to eb and flow based on positive/negative responses to a FB post. It is really so silly. My worth is never ever determined by how many ‘likes’ I get. How ridiculous. Satan we are on to you so go back to where you came from! Thank you Trisha. I want to live FREE for Jesus.
To be honest I think we all do that from time to time. It’s really about teaching ourselves to think differently. I constantly redirect my thoughts and align them to God’s perspective. I appreciate your honesty!! Thanks for reading and commenting. I love to hear from my readers. We are all a work in progress.
