The Power of the 4:13

May 10, 2016      Devotionals

You can do all things through Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:13 declares, I can do all things through Jesus Christ who gives me strength.

There is so much more to this scripture verse than we first realize.  This is also the name of my ministry. The 4:13 principle was birthed in my home by our own personal experiences with this verse.  I noticed a while back how many times one of my sons would say, “I can’t.” That word came out of his mouth a lot.  The Lord prompted me to have him memorize this verse. I had no idea the power and authority that would come from using this verse in my home.

At first, he would begrudgingly say it to appease me.

He started with a whisper. However, something changed in the atmosphere over time.  His whole way of thinking and speaking changed. He began to say this verse with power and authority. When I would sense an “I can’t” rising up in my children I would begin to say and sing this scripture verse. My children began to chime in with me. Now we break out into song and sing these words in our home on a daily basis. It has become a way of thinking for every member of my family. Even my mother and father have begun to use this in their everyday situations. My mom called me a few weeks ago to tell me she was scared to do something, but she activated the 4:13 principle. The other day I was merging on the freeway during rush hour traffic. My son yelled out from the back seat, “4:13 mom, 4:13.” I felt empowered at that moment. Something in my spirit began to rise. A courageous spirit took over my mind.

For my family this is a mindset based on biblical teaching.

It’s our source of power. This verse became way more than a scripture verse to us.  My son started with a whisper, but he ended with a roar. Now, I find myself traveling and teaching about the 4:13 principle all because of these experiences.  I want to share the powerful teaching behind the 4:13 principle with you today.

You see what we think affects our brain.

I can’t is a decision. Whatever you think about the most will grow. Whatever you give attention to builds into thoughts. Everything begins with your thoughts.  As soon as your mind changes, your emotions will follow after that. In fact, you don’t have to feel a certain way to think and speak that way.  Through the power and authority of Jesus Christ you can learn to think, speak, and act differently.

Something powerful happens when you begin to speak the word of God over your life.

It creates a shift in the atmosphere.  It produces a change in the climate of your home.  A warrior spirit rises up within your soul when you speak the word of God. Every word in the bible is like a bullet full of God’s power. Power is made available to a righteous man. When you speak, write, and sing the word of God it comes alive in your spirit. It flows through your attitude, it transforms your thinking, it covers your emotions. The forces that are for you are greater than the forces against you. The creator of the universe is breathing in your direction. We want to encourage you to activate the 4:13 principle. Make it a part of your home, marriage, parenting, thinking, and your attitude. Make it your way of living.  You might start with a whisper, but if you keep saying it, you’ll end with a roar. There is power, authority, and favor made available to you through this scripture verse. It’s the 4:13 principle.
