This Is How I Fight My Battles:

January 23, 2019      Conflict Resolution, Self-esteem, Transformation

I’d love to teach you my secret strategy to win any battle you might be facing.

Pain is an unavoidable part of life for everyone. I guarantee at some point you will experience pain in life.  Maybe you have been betrayed by a friend?  Some of  you have been crushed by lies people have told about you?  I know many who have experienced the heartbreak of cheating by a spouse?   It could be that you have been falsely accused of something, and not allowed to defend yourself? Yes, pain happens to all of us.   If not dealt with, hurt creates pain pockets deep in our soul.  If you don’t deal with your pain, you bleed on people who didn’t hurt you.

Sometimes hurt and pain comes out of left field.

When we don’t see it coming it can knock the wind out of us. Last year, I had a situation that left my body shocked, and put a huge pain pocket in my heart. In the middle of my hurt, God began to whisper in my heart, and shatter my perspective. God gave me simple yet profound words. Those words continue to linger in my heart.  Right before my hurt was about to form a pain pocket deeply rooted in my soul, God intervened.

He simply whispered softly to my soul, go and grow. You’re not staying here in the place of pain. You’re moving on.

God wants us to be honest, real, and vulnerable with him.

However, you can’t camp out amid your pain.  If you do it grows into a deep pain pocket that devastates your soul.  Whatever is happening inside you will affect those living around you.  So, you figuratively must go and grow.   Don’t pitch a tent, start a campfire, and stay too long in the place of your hurt. Grieve for a while if you must, but don’t stay too long. There are new friendships, opportunities, and possibilities waiting for you.

We all struggle with that be still and know that I am God thing.  Most of us feel we need to do something or say something. Our flesh will tell us to defend ourselves. However, God really is a great defense attorney.  I cried out to God and asked what I do.  God answered, be still, be quiet, don’t speak, don’t defend yourselves, just simply let me be God.  Doing nothing is not the easiest strategy for any of us.  God went on to say, for I the Lord God am fighting your battles.  He said this with power and might. This is where I really started to comprehend. Wow, it is a game changer to know you don’t have to pick up that sword and leave battle wounds on your opponent. So, after gripping my sword with clinched knuckles, I laid my sword down. This was the point God picked up the sword and started fighting for me.

Exodus 14: 14 reminds us, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still.”

Our words sometimes mess up what God is trying to do in the other person.

Prayers are more powerful than words. Don’t get me wrong there is a time to speak, set boundaries, and protect your family.  However, God is the ultimate judge and jury,  we most definitely are not. We must get out of the judge’s seat.   I strongly believe that some people do get away with things here on earth. Yes, it does happen. They don’t get away with it in the eyes of God. God knows. God sees all things and  has a whole different set of resources and tools to fight our battles then we have access to. If He is our God, then we must let him fight our battles.  Either He is or He isn’t. I know that He is.

You do have power to do something with your pain.

You can go and grow!! Every single painful moment in your life can make you more Christlike if you let it.  Your pain has a purpose.  Today’s pain can be tomorrows strength when surrender to God. No one goes through life without experiencing pain. However, we can learn how to fight our battles the most effective way. You probably won’t get that apology. They probably won’t print a retraction in the paper clearing your name. You may never see a true repented heart. However, you can see God.

So, how do you see God?

The scripture says put on the garment of praise when you feel the heaviness of life.  This means worshiping your God, not your problem.  Think of it this way, worship means to give attention to something. Are you worshiping your problem or your God? Start worshiping your God, that’s putting on the garment of praise, as He fights your battles for you. Your world is not falling apart, its falling into place. Trust God to reposition the pieces for your favor. The moment you lay that sword down, God picks it up.

It may look like your surrounded, but you’re surround by Him.

Remember God is surrounding you with his presence and power.  You are not alone. Fight your battles with hands surrendered to God while worshiping your King rather than your problem.  You too, can lay your sword down, lift your hands in surrender,  and worship God.  He promises to fight for you. You need only be still!!!
